Becoming an Adult Member
(Keeping Young People Safe)
Fulfilling safeguarding requirements to help deliver activities with young people safely.
Thank you for all the support you give to 2nd St. Ives Sea Scout Group, if you would like to have more fun with us we need to ensure the safety of our young people by asking you to fulfill these three mandatory requirements.
To ensure all our young people are safe at 2nd St. Ives, all adults who lead, assist or participate as a regular role model need to become an adult member by following these three steps as a minimum mandatory requirement:
1) Scout Association DBS check
2) Safeguarding & Safety e-learning
3) General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) e-learning & Adult Information Form
Fortunately all three requirements can be completed relatively quickly online and here’s how:
1. Disclosure and Barring Service
We understand you may have a DBS with another organisation, however due to GDPR and the different levels of clearance, the Scout Association cannot access your details or verify the level of your clearance with another organisation, and they cannot disclose it. Therefore we need your consent for Scouts UK to make the relevant checks at the right level on our behalf. Please download and complete the Identity Check Process and Editable Check Forms below.
2. Safeguarding and Safety e-learning and certificates
Complete the short online e-learning courses, Safeguarding and Safety modules below and save the pdf certificates or a screenshot of them.
3. GDPR e-learning and Adult Information Form
Follow the link below, complete the e-learning and save the pdf certificate or a screenshot of it.
Download the editable Adult Information Form, complete it and save as your name.
What Happens Next
Once you have completed the Identity Check and Adult Information form, please email both forms and the three e-learning certificates or screenshots of them, to our Group Scout Leader. Please include in your email, which young person/s you represent, the section they are in, if you are joining independently that’s great, please let us know how you found out about us. Finally, please include your preferred contact details.
Our GSL will then contact you to chat about our group and scouting with 4th Heswall.
Thank you so much for helping
